Methylphenidate is used as part of a treatment program (including psychological, educational, and social measures) to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - ADHD. It can help increase your ability to pay attention, stay focused on an activity, and control behavior problems. It may also help you to organize your tasks and improve listening skills. Ritalin is also used to treat a certain sleep disorder (narcolepsy). Methylphenidate is a mild stimulant that is thought to work by changing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain. This medication is used alone or with other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Guanfacine acts in the brain. It decreases certain nerve signals from the brain to the blood vessels and the heart. This causes the blood vessels to relax so that blood can flow more easily and also slows the heart rate. These effects help to lower blood pressure. At first it was great it gave my the motivation to start and finish my projects. Where before I never had the desire to do anything. You will get a burst of happiness and you want to talk to people a very good feeling. But then there is a coming down time this is awful. I got very angry and confused I really don't think I could even walk right. I just don't think this is a good drug I think it is ...

Medication does work. Too easy to use and control own dosage. Saved then binged on special occasions.

Have been taking Ritalin 35 mg/day for 18 yrs. for ADHD. I am now 65 y/o with a thriving psychotherapy practice. It has helped me focus and stay calm -- wish I'd started it in my 20's.

My little girl has Autism,Sensory processing disorder, and ADHD.I was so worried about her taking a medication. She has been on Tenex for a little over a week.WOW! Such a great difference!. She went from having 4~ 20 minute meltdowns everyday to mabey 3 small ones since she has started taking it...We have a pharmacy in town that made a special compound liquid form so all we have to do is put it her juice twice a day! She is so happy and mellow...Her poor brain was always racing....Now she is just chill....

My daughters doctor put her on this medication when her other medication was not working. The dr said to give her a half of a pill for morning and half for noon for the first week. The first day she was breathing hard and very loud and sleeping when she was not sleeping she was very winy. The second day same thing but worse. I called her doctor and they have not called me back will not be giving this to my child anymore.
